Berkshire Motors Auto Repair

Berkshire Motors is a hometown auto repair shop that truly cares about its neighbors. Owner Jim Marcucilli and his family have lived in Sandy Hook for nearly 30 years, so it means a lot to him to own a business in the community. Located right across the street from Newtown High School, we’re part of the school’s shadowing program, and local sports teams and clubs hold fundraising car washes on our parking lot almost every Saturday throughout the summer.

I started working on gas-powered law motors at age 13, which led my father to find me a job at a local gas station in Danbury, CT. The owner noticed I was purchasing new tools each week the tool truck came, and so he allowed me to do some tune-ups and other work. I also worked on my parents’ cars, and then at age 17, I purchased a 1967 GT Mustang, removed the engine, and rebuilt it.

I drove that Mustang out to Denver, CO to attend automotive college for six months. After graduating in the spring of 1978, I got a job at a Chevy dealership, and then moved on to a Subaru dealership, where I spent the next 20 years.

In 1999, I purchased a two-bay repair shop in Georgetown, CT and ran it for 1 ½ years. Then my wife mentioned a shop was for sale right here in our hometown of Sandy Hook. Within two months, a deal was made and now we have five bays, five techs, and two service advisors.
